Howlite is a calcium hydroxide that forms masses that looks something like cauliflowers. It is white with black or gray veins of other minerals in an erratic almost spiderweb like pattern. It is porous and is often dyed, often a turquoise color. It was first found by the Canadian minerologist Henry How. Most Howlite is found in California but also in Russia, Canada, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Mexico.
